More fun with a Literal 3-year old

This morning as we were cleaning up breakfast, Ben was bringing his napkin and the foil top to a yogurt container into the kitchen as part of cleaning up.

He was getting ready to set both of them on the counter when I reminded him that those things could go in the trash.

"But I didn't use my napkin, Daddy," he explained as he put the yogurt foil in the trash.

"Ok," I replied, "you can use it again another time."

"But I didn't use it for breakfast, Daddy."

"I know. I said that it would be ok to use it again."

"But Daddy, I didn't use it for breakfast!"

"Oh, ok Ben, then you can use it some other time" I said finally getting that he couldn't use it again if he hadn't used it in the first place. Duh, Dad!
